The factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Atiku Isah, has retracted serious allegations made against Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu.
Isah had earlier claimed that Seyi Tinubu and Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, offered him a N100 million bribe to endorse the president, a statement which has now been described by Isah as “completely false”.
In a Facebook statement titled “Setting the Records Straight/Public Apology to Seyi Tinubu”, Isah admitted that his actions and words were based on misinformation received from another factional NANS leader, Olusola Ladoja.
“The claim that I was offered N100,000,000 by Seyi Tinubu to support the President is untrue,” Isah wrote.

“I was misled by Ladoja Olusola, who had his personal ambitions and manipulated me into believing falsehoods.”
Isah had also previously alleged that he was abducted, stripped, and assaulted on April 15, 2025, following his refusal to accept the supposed bribe.
These accusations, he now concedes, were fabricated under the influence of internal rivalry.
“In the video, I also alleged I was taken to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) where I was forced to denounce my position under duress,” Isah added.
“It has become clear that these were fabrications planted in my mind.”
He further accused Ladoja of fuelling a campaign to unseat him as NANS president through deception and manipulation, calling the actions a bid to seize control of the student body.
“Ladoja fed me lies and half-truths, including suggestions that Seyi Tinubu could kill me and order the police to cover it up,” Isah stated.
“I now know these claims are not only untrue but deeply damaging.”
Isah admitted that his earlier statement that Seyi Tinubu led thugs to disrupt his inauguration was equally baseless.
“Seyi Tinubu was nowhere near the venue,” he confirmed.
The student leader acknowledged the harm his accusations may have caused, expressing regret for any damage done to Seyi Tinubu’s reputation and to the image of NANS.
“I offer this public apology to Mr Seyi Tinubu. My statements were influenced by internal political deception and not based on verified facts,” Isah stated.
He urged fellow students and the public to disregard his previous claims, which he now describes as the result of a campaign of manipulation led by Ladoja.
“Truth must prevail over ambition,” he concluded, calling on stakeholders to unite for the progress of Nigerian students rather than allow internal divisions to damage the union.
Efforts to reach Olusola Ladoja for comments have so far been unsuccessful.
