The Federal Fire Service, Osun Command, has prevented an estimated ₦800 million loss following a major fire outbreak at the Egbedi Dump Site in Egbedore local government council area of Osun State.
The incident it was gathered occurred after the Command received a distress call at 10:47 a.m. from a resident identified as Olalekan via the emergency line.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSF Ojo Omoyemi, firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene to contain the blaze.

The fire involved a refuse dumping yard covering approximately 25 acres and threatened parts of the Egbedi community.
Preliminary findings indicated that the fire was caused by unattended bush burning in the area.
The statement said, “Property valued at approximately ₦800 million was saved, while an estimated ₦10
million was lost. No casualty was recorded.
“Firefighting vehicle FFS 141, under the command of DSF Owoeye and DSF Adesola, with support from FFS 142, was deployed to the scene.
“The team successfully extinguished the fire using four medium jets of water mixed with F500 chemical foam, preventing it from spreading further to adjoining areas.
“The firefighters returned safely to the station at 19:11 hours after ensuring the situation was fully under control.”
The Command reminded residents to avoid unattended burning of waste and bush to prevent similar incidents and urged the public to contact the Federal Fire Service, Osun Command via 0903 581 8584 or 0812 269 5959 in case of emergency.
