Lawyer Launches Appeal To Relocate Quadri Alabi

Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has issued an urgent appeal for financial assistance to aid the relocation and rehabilitation of Quadri Alabi, a teenager recently released from custody amid ongoing threats to his life.

Effiong made the appeal on his verified X account (@InibeheEffiong), following discussions with Quadri’s family, stressing the necessity of immediate intervention due to persistent security threats.

“Amukoko is no longer safe for them. Those behind his travails can easily target him or his family members again,” Effiong wrote.

He revealed that Quadri and his family have continued to receive threats, even after his release from court, prompting urgent action to ensure their safety.

“Upon the release of Quadri at the court, it became apparent that it is no longer safe for them to return to their home,” Effiong stated.

The legal practitioner confirmed that temporary arrangements had been made to house the family in a hotel for the night, pending further support.

“In view of the urgency and severity of the situation, we have paid for and lodged them in a hotel for tonight,” he added.

Quadri’s mother, described as a petty trader, has appealed to Nigerians for help to sustain her family, following the death of her husband.

“She has also pleaded with Nigerians to assist her financially to enable her cater for herself and her children,” the statement read.

Effiong also emphasised the importance of rehabilitating Quadri, highlighting his interest in returning to school or learning a trade.

“Finally, we need to rehabilitate Quadri for him to be useful to himself and the society. He has expressed a desire to go to school,” he noted.

The account details for contributions were provided as follows: Account Number – 0092695127, Bank – Sterling Bank, Account Name – Quadri Yusuf Alabi.

Effiong assured potential donors that all contributions would be used responsibly to support Quadri and prevent misappropriation.

“We will do our best this time to ensure that whatever is donated to Quadri is properly utilized and not misappropriated,” he pledged.

He called on concerned individuals, civil society organisations, and corporate bodies to assist urgently in ensuring Quadri’s safety and future.

As of Thursday morning, the post had generated significant attention on social media, with users sharing and responding to the call for support.
