The family of the late Daniel Olaniyan, who was allegedly murdered by a group of attackers, has again appealed to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for intervention in the pursuit of justice.
Through their legal representatives, Adebayo Adegbite and Co. of Divine Heights Chambers, the family submitted a renewed request titled “Re: Gruesome Murder of Daniel Olaniyan by Sakiru Mustapha, Isiaka Oladigbolu, Muritala Adigun Ifaremi, Ayoade Taiwo Olusola, and Their Cohorts: Appeal for Intervention and Justice”, dated 14 May 2025.
The initial letter, addressed to the governor, reportedly yielded no response, prompting a follow-up letter that was made available to journalists this week.
The family said they sought the governor’s involvement to ensure the state’s Attorney General addresses what they described as a miscarriage of justice.

In the letter, the family stated: “Despite the gravity of the allegation and the distressing circumstance surrounding the case, we regret to note that no response has been received from Your Excellency’s office more than two months after our letters were submitted.”
They expressed concern over the release of the suspects by the police without being charged to court, alleging that this has “created an atmosphere of fear, intimidation, and injustices” in their community.
According to the letter, “This prolonged silence has not only deepened the agony of the grieving family but has further emboldened the suspects who continue to walk freely in the community.”
The family further claimed that the complainants have now been arraigned in Charge No.: MUY/100C/2025 at the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Moniya, Ibadan, while those alleged to have committed the murder remain at large.
They called for the governor’s urgent intervention to ensure the case is thoroughly investigated, and that those found culpable are brought before the court.
“The Olaniyan family deserves the assurance that the rule of law still prevails in Oyo State under your administration,” the letter continued.
The statement emphasised the family’s belief that justice must be served not only for their loved one but also to maintain public trust in law enforcement and the judiciary.
They urged Governor Makinde to act swiftly, stressing that the ongoing turmoil has deeply affected their lives and the stability of their community.
The appeal concluded with the family’s hope that “justice will ultimately prevail,” restoring their faith in the legal system and the protection promised by the state government.
