The Osun State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, has described the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, OSCO-HEALTH, as central to the growth of the health technology sector in both Osun State and Nigeria at large.
Eluwole made this statement on Tuesday while receiving the institution’s Governing Board, led by its Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke, and the management team, headed by Provost Dr Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, at his office in Osogbo.
“The Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, is pivotal to the vision of this administration in reforming health technology education and practice,” Eluwole said.
“Our government under Senator Ademola Adeleke remains committed to supporting OSCO-HEALTH to become one of the foremost training institutions in Nigeria.”

The Commissioner noted that health technology had become a global focus and that serious governments across the world are investing heavily in the sector, adding that Osun State will not be left behind in this trend.
He further assured that OSCO-HEALTH would be included in the government’s infrastructure development plan, specifically in the area of road construction across state-owned tertiary institutions.
In his remarks, Board Chairman Abayomi Adegoke reaffirmed the board’s resolve to align with the Adeleke administration’s vision for the institution.
He added that the board is working to improve both student and staff welfare.
“We are committed to ensuring that this institution’s image and nomenclature are upgraded in line with its strategic importance,” Adegoke said.
Speaking earlier, Dr Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, the Provost of the College, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education for its support in recent years.
He urged the Commissioner to help fast-track the upgrade of the College to Polytechnic status.
“This change will allow the College to access funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), which it has long deserved,” Raheem noted.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Murtala Jimoh, welcomed the delegation and praised the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry and the institution, adding that the visit would contribute to shared objectives for educational development.
He said, “This engagement further strengthens our resolve to improve standards across all state educational institutions, especially one as critical as OSCO-HEALTH.”
Also present during the courtesy visit were other political members of the Board, including Alhaji Isiaka Akinlabi, Chief Sherifat Adenike, Akinjimi Sunday, as well as the Registrar, Mushood Afolabi; the Bursar, Yinka Olaleye; the Librarian, Kemi Ibitoye; and the Director of Works, Engr. Imran Kareem.
