The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Osun State chapter, has congratulated one of its distinguished members, Dr. Olufunmilayo Sharon Ojo, on the successful completion of her Doctor of Philosophy, PhD, in Mass Communication.
Dr. Ojo earned the academic honour from Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State, during a convocation ceremony that the association described as a historic moment of inspiration and pride.
In a joint statement signed by the State Chairperson, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola, and the Secretary, Oluwaranti Ojewumi, NAWOJ described the accomplishment as a “testimony of vision, strength, and tenacity.”
“Earning a Ph.D. is no small feat,” the statement read.

“It is the crown jewel of academic achievement, and your journey to this pinnacle reflects years of painstaking research, sacrifice, and relentless pursuit of excellence.”
The association acknowledged Dr. Ojo’s multi-faceted role as a journalist with Gold FM, Radio Nigeria, a community builder, family woman, mentor, and development worker, noting that she had seamlessly combined her professional and academic responsibilities.
“You have truly embodied the spirit of a lifelong learner and a resilient woman who has defied odds to break boundaries,” the leadership stated.
NAWOJ Osun further noted that Dr. Ojo’s latest achievement had brought honour to the association not only within Osun State but across the South-West zone, where she once served as Zonal Secretary.
“This convocation ceremony is not merely ceremonial, it is symbolic. It is a celebration of brilliance, of commitment to intellectual growth, and of the empowerment of women to thrive and lead in all spheres of life, including the academia,” the statement added.
The association praised Dr. Ojo for her contributions to journalism and her continuous efforts to uplift others through mentorship and service.
“You have not only added the prestigious academic title of ‘Doctor’ to your name but have also elevated the collective pride of NAWOJ members across the region,” the statement continued.
NAWOJ expressed hopes that Dr. Ojo’s new academic status would open more doors of opportunity and influence within the field of mass communication and beyond.
