The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday announced the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, the party’s suspended National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose.
The decision was formally disclosed during the party’s national convention holding in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Party officials informed delegates that the expulsions followed internal deliberations and resolutions adopted at the convention.
An official statement read at the venue said, “The National Executive Committee has approved the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, Samuel Anyanwu and Ayo Fayose from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect.”

Delegates at the convention were told that the move was part of ongoing efforts to address longstanding disputes within the party.
A senior party member addressing the gathering stated, “This convention aims to reposition the party, and these decisions are necessary to uphold discipline and unity.”
The convention, which runs from 15 to 16 November, includes agenda items centred on party reforms and preparations ahead of future elections.
Witnesses at the event said the announcement drew mixed reactions from various delegates present at the Ibadan stadium.
One delegate remarked, “We hope the actions taken today will strengthen the party as we prepare for the challenges ahead.”
Daily Post reports that the convention continues on Sunday with further deliberations expected on the party’s strategic direction.
