Nigerian singer Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has clarified that he has not retired from music but is currently taking a break.
The veteran artiste made this known in a post shared via his official X handle, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday.
Timaya wrote, “No be say the boy retire, the boy just been dey sleep…,” indicating that his absence from the music scene is temporary.
The singer, who hails from Bayelsa State, launched his solo career in 2005 with the hit single Dem Mama, which addressed the Odi massacre in his home state.

Following the success of his debut track, Timaya released his first studio album titled True Story in 2006, which brought him widespread recognition.
In the two decades since his debut, Timaya has released a total of eight albums and one extended play (EP), along with numerous singles.
He has also worked with several international music stars, including Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae band Morgan Heritage and Jamaican-American singer Sean Paul.
Despite his recent silence, Timaya’s fans have continued to engage with his old hits across digital streaming platforms and social media.
The artist has yet to announce a date for his official return to music or plans for any new projects.
His clarification comes amid growing speculation about his status in the industry, following a period of inactivity from live performances and new music releases.
